Have I mentioned lately how much we love our family. We may not see them all the time and it may be for very short visits (between cattle loads) but the time we have is sweet and very much a treasure.
That being said...we hauled cattle today for my family at the north ranch, but first we had to check out BDD's new trailer. Someone was super excited. It's great and we are so excited for him to use it!
We got 84 pairs and some bulls loaded up in the trailers. Cooper wasn't a lot of help in counting as he can only count to 15 but he sure tried.
Thanks to ALL of the guys for their help ;)
We grabbed some beverages and snacks of course ....
And were on the road to the flint hills.
I almost forgot...Cooper rode with papa on the way north, so we were all by ourselves ! We didn't know how to handle the silence in the truck. This red truck has hauled us three for 3 1/2 years, this means a lot of hours, snacks, and a tons of patience and Grace on everyone's part.
Back to the flint hills...we Got them unloaded quickly so we could get going since we had a long drive ahead of us.
Once we had them unloaded a few of us stopped to admire them pairing up.
This is a pretty sweet picture i got of two of my favorite guys. This picture shows them looking at a lot of hard work and heart, I know this to be true that my guys work very hard.
And I like it even better in black and white. (Did I mention these two are at the top of my list?)
We drove them down the road to the grass pasture and then they were free to roam-for the summer time!
When we were pushing them down the road I heard my little guy tell "come on mamas. Get down the road" and when they didn't move I may have heard "go ya big butt heads!" Yikes. That's my fault. But it was kind of funny.
It's always a pleasure to do this with both of my families. Twice a year we get to bring them to grass and take them back home with them. Twice a year we rejoice in grass that's grown tall and calves that have filled out. And twice a year we are thankful for each other and the chance to do this. Well, more often than twice a year but especially on these days.
Goodbyes are dramatic with these two anymore ... BDD left 84 pairs in the flint hills and gram left her heart ;)
It's 9:45 and we just got home. It's time to take showers and head to bed!
